Russian nuclear container ship "Sevmorput," located in the Murmansk region, briefly caught on fire, the Murmansk branch of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
Sevmorput is the only icebreaker transport ship in the world powered by its own nuclear power plant. The vessel can breach ice fields up to one meter thick at a speed of two knots. The fire started in one of the cabins located on the ship and spread across an area of 30 square meters but was promptly extinguished.
"The fire has been extinguished. There were no casualties in the incident," the report stated. No major damage was reported.
