Ford's US Q2 sales up by 9.9% to 531,662 units

Ford Motor Company announced on Thursday that its total sales in the United States in the second quarter of the fiscal year 2023 observed an annual rise of 9.9% to hit 531,662 units to remain the country's most sought-after brand this year. In the first half of the fiscal year, its sales came in at 1,007,568, which is 10.0% higher compared to the same period in 2022.

The company saw a surge in its truck sales, which jumped by 26.2% year-on-year to reach 295,602 in the quarter. However, both sports utility vehicles (SUVs) and cars saw losses of 5.0% and 12.4%, landing at 225,299 and 10,761, respectively. The sales of electric vehicles (EVs) also decreased, going down by 2.8% to 14,843. Meanwhile, those of hybrid vehicles improved significantly, growing by 15.7% to 34,589 units sold.

"Ford achieved both best-selling brand and truck for six consecutive months this year on the strength of F-Series, vans, our new Escape and F-150 Lightning," sales distribution and trucks vice-president Andrew Frick said.
