Former Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi dies at age 86

Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has died at the age of 86 at 9:00 am local time, the Italian daily Corriere della Sera reported Monday.

The former primer minister was admitted to San Raffaele Milan Hospital last Friday for scheduled medical check-ups, just a few weeks after being discharged. He had previously been treated for a lung infection related to chronic myelomonocytic leukemia.

Berlusconi was prime minister of Italy from 1994 to 1995, from 2001 to 2006, and from 2008 to 2011. Since 2019 he was a member of the European Parliament, where he also served from 1999 to 2001. From 1986 to 2017, he was the owner of AC. Milan and during his political career faced numerous scandals.
