The French parliament voted on Thursday in favor of legislation regulating short-term rentals such as Airbnb. The bill includes changes to tax reductions for furnished tourist accommodation without a star rating from 50% to 30% up to €15,000. Meanwhile, accommodation with a star rating will see its tax reduction go down from 71% to 50% to a maximum of €77,700.
Local authorities will also be authorized to reduce the number of days main residences can be rented on short-stay platforms from 120 days per year currently to 90 days. In addition, municipalities will be able to determine a quota of furnished tourist accommodation and designate zones for the construction of main residences, among other measures.
