The French Interior Ministry announced on Monday that it will halt asylum applications from Syrians following the collapse of President Bashar al-Assad's government.
The ministry noted that the decision, already taken by Germany, Belgium Sweden, and Austria, is expected to be finalized in the coming hours.
Previously, Alternative for Germany Co-Chairperson Alice Weidel stressed that those in Germany celebrating a "free Syria" clearly no longer have a reason to seek asylum, urging them to return to Syria "immediately."
