French Minister for Industry and Energy Marc Ferracci (pictured) emphasized the need for European unity amid US tariffs during an interview on TF1Info on Tuesday. He warned that US President Donald Trump aims to negotiate individual trade deals with European nations, urging a fast and firm collective response. Ferracci highlighted Europe's past ability to act decisively and expressed hope for prompt action.
"Europe has to respond in a unique way because we know Donald Trump's strategy is to divide Europeans … we have to stay united and then we have to respond firmly," he stressed.
Although Ferracci acknowledged France is not a top exporter of steel and aluminum, he warned of indirect effects, particularly from Chinese exports flooding the European market. He underscored ongoing European efforts to implement safeguard clauses and carbon border taxes to protect local industries and promote eco-friendly production methods.
