France's newly-appointed Prime Minister Francois Bayrou told France 2 TV on Thursday his aspiration to finalize a budget by mid-February. He mentioned the possibility of employing special constitutional powers to pass the budget through parliament if faced with obstruction from opposition parties.
"I hope we can have it by mid-February, it will have to be completely wrapped up," he added.
The previous administration, led by Michel Barnier, saw its downfall after Barnier resorted to using special powers to enact his budget without parliamentary approval due to insufficient backing for his proposals.
