Newly-appointed French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou (pictured right) vowed on Friday to confront the nation's challenges with "open eyes," assuring that he would not "hide" or "neglect" anything.

In his address to the nation following his appointment, the prime minister emphasized his commitment to "breaking down" the "glass wall" that has separated citizens from the government. He also emphasized that reducing France's debt is his "moral obligation," asserting that he is aware of the "gravity of the situation" surrounding the country's deficit.

French politician and former presidential candidate Marine Le Pen previously urged Bayrou to "listen" to the demands of the opposition parties and work toward agreeing to a "reasonable budget" for the next year.
