The French Consumer Price Index (CPI) clocked in at 4% in October, the country's statistical office, INSEE, said in a preliminary report published on Tuesday. The figure fell compared to the September reading.
The decrease in the inflation rate was primarily driven by the decline in energy and food prices, followed by a fall in the cost of manufactured products. However, the prices of services are expected to slightly increase.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices are anticipated to go up by 0.1%. The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) on all items advanced by 4.5% year-on-year, marking a slowdown compared to last month's figure.
