The French Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 4.8% in April, according to a preliminary report by the country's statistical office INSEE. The figure is up from March's annual inflation rate of 4.5%.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices were seen growing 0.4%, while the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices is expected to rise 5.4% year on year and 0.5% month on month.
The final inflation data for April is scheduled to be released on May 13.
