Former United Kingdom Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak noted on Monday that if Foreign Secretary Liz Truss were to be elected as the nation's next prime minister and give him the post of health secretary under her cabinet, he would likely decline the offer.

"'One thing I reflected on after being in the government and cabinet over the last couple of years, is that you really need to agree with the big things because it's tough [...] and I wouldn't want to end up in a situation like that again," Sunak underscored speaking on the air of BBC Radio.

"I am focusing on winning this race, I am not thinking about jobs for me or anyone else," said Sunak, stressing that he believes to be the right fit for the country's prime minister. In the Tory leadership race, which will also choose the future prime minister of the United Kingdom, Truss is now ahead of Sunak by 32 points, according to previous reports.
