The General Motors Company (GM) announced on Monday that its sales in the United States in the third quarter of the year came in at 555,580, which is an increase of 24% compared to the same trimester in 2021.
GM cited "strong customer demand and improved availability" as the main reason for the rise in sales. It stressed that three of its subsidiaries recorded double-digit increases, those being Chevrolet with 30%, GMC with 24%, and Cadillac with 50%. The company also stressed its Cadillac Escalade has been the best-selling large luxury sports utility vehicle (SUV) so far in 2022 and in the third quarter.
"We are being very intentional in the way we are executing our EV [electric vehicle] strategy to position the company for the same kind of success that we’ve earned with today’s pickups and SUVs, and with supercars like the Chevrolet Corvette," GM North America President and GM Executive Vice President Steve Carlisle commented.
