United States House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer demanded on Thursday that Special Presidential Envoy (SPEC) for Climate John Kerry turn over the documents pertaining his role within the Biden Administration, as the diplomat is believed to have engaged in covert negotiations with his Chinese counterparts that "undermine" national interests.
"As a member of the President's cabinet, you should be representing the United States' interests. Your statements, however, consistently show disregard for American national security and taxpayer dollars," the panel's chairman wrote in the letter addressed to the envoy, claiming that Kerry and his staff have continuously disregarded the committee's requests that the office provide information on its operations.
"He has also downplayed the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) human rights violations and its antagonism against the US while promoting climate negotiations that the CCP does not even appear interested in entering," Comer added.
