GameStop appoints Ryan Cohen as new CEO

GameStop Corp. announced on Thursday that its Board of Directors had named Ryan Cohen as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

According to the press release, the decision is effective immediately, and Cohen will not obtain compensation for acting as the company’s CEO, president, and chairman.

Earlier in June, the company fired its then-CEO, Matthew Furlong, without providing any further details regarding the decision. Ryan Cohen is a Canadian billionaire entrepreneur. He founded the e-commerce company Chewy in 2011 and was CEO of that firm until 2018.
