The Rafah Crossing on the border between Egypt and the Gaza Strip will open for civilians today, the Israeli Kan broadcaster reported on Friday. The crossing was previously scheduled to open on Sunday as part of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement.

Unnamed Palestinian officials said the Israeli government approved a number of Palestinians who will operate the crossing together with the European Union's border assistance mission. While humanitarian aid was already allowed to cross into Gaza from Egypt, the report said that today's decision will also allow Palestinians to leave Gaza to seek medical help abroad.
