Gaza's only power plant to run out of fuel soon, dept. says

Palestinian Energy Authority Chairman Thafer Melhem unveiled on Wednesday that the only power plant operating in the Gaza Strip and the region's sole electricity source at the moment will exhaust its fuel reserves in 10 to 12 hours.

The official made the statement while speaking to the Voice of Palestine radio station.

Earlier, European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell urged Israel to respect international humanitarian law and overrule its decision to cut electricity supply to Palestine, a move made in retaliation to Hamas's attacks on that country.

Israel issues evacuation order for Gaza city after rocket fire
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued an evacuation order for several neighborhoods in Gaza City on Wednesday, citing renewed rocket fire from the area.
