International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said at the World Governments Summit in Dubai on Monday that artificial intelligence (AI) will hit the global labor market "like a tsunami." Repeating the IMF's previous assessment that 40% of all jobs will be affected, she said this includes newly created jobs, as well as those that will be "enhanced" and those that will "disappear."
Georgieva said that the majority of countries, especially developing nations, are not ready for the rise of AI. She warned that the rising inequality that could result from the advent of AI would be "devastating" and urged developed countries to steer AI development in a positive direction.
