Germany's operator of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline reportedly dissolved on January 1, according to T-Online's information published on Friday. Nord Stream 2 is a natural gas pipeline connecting Russia and Germany through the Baltic Sea, financed by Russian energy giant Gazprom and several European energy companies since 2011 when the project was launched.
In September last year, both Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines were sabotaged through a suspected series of secret bombings, which caused underwater gas leaks in the Baltics. The plans to make the Nord Stream 2 operational have mostly been on halt since Russia's invasion of Ukraine last February despite the project being completed in autumn 2021.
