Germany's Social Democratic Party (SPD) announced on Monday a list of its members who will hold key cabinet positions in Olaf Scholz's new government.
The SPD picked Christine Lambrecht to lead the Defense Ministry, while Karl Lauterbach was named health minister. Scholz also chose Nancy Faeser to be Germany's first-ever female interior minister.
Over the weekend, the SPD voted in favor of its coalition deal with the Free Democratic Party (FDP) and the Greens. The new government is set to be sworn in on Wednesday.
