Industrial production in the German manufacturing sector increased 1.4% on a monthly basis in June, the country's Federal Statistical Office Destatis said in a provisional report released on Wednesday. The reading was higher than expected.
Output in the industry fell 4.1% in comparison to June last year. The manufacture of electrical equipment registered a 5.2% growth in June, while the automotive sector surged 7.5% on a monthly basis. Production in the industry excluding energy and construction expanded by 1.5% from May, while the output of capital goods advanced by 2.5%.
The production of intermediate goods was up by 2.1%, while the output of consumer goods slipped by 2.4%.
