The annual inflation rate in Germany reached 2.5% in February, declining from 2.9% recorded the previous month and hitting the lowest level since June 2021, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) said in its preliminary report published on Thursday. Month-on-month, the figure increased by 0.4%.
The largest contribution to the rise came from services, which were 3.4% higher than in the same period in 2023, followed by goods at 1.8% and food at 0.9%. Meanwhile, energy prices decreased by 2.4% year-on-year.
The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) grew by 2.7% compared to February 2023 and 0.6% since January.
