Amazon Inc. sent out invites for a product event in New York City on February 26 sparking rumors that the company might unveil a new version of its Alexa AI assistant.
The event will be hosted by Panos Panay, the head of Amazon's consumer electronics business. It was also reported that the tech giant was facing challenges with upgrading Alexa to integrate the latest generative AI models. Earlier in January, the head of Amazon's artificial general intelligence (AGI) team stated that the upgraded Alexa will be capable of performing more complex tasks.
At the same time, Amazon was said to plan to charge users for the revamped version, with the cost of a monthly subscription rumored to be set at around $10.
