Turnover in retail trade in Germany declined 1.4% in January in real terms compared to the same month a year ago, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) stated in its report on Thursday.
In nominal terms, calendar and seasonally adjusted turnover in retail trade in January dropped 0.4% compared to the month before but increased by 1.6% on an annual basis.
Compared to the December 2023 figure, retail sales in real terms went down 0.4%.
