Germany's unemployment rate in September stood at 5.4%, just like in July, the Bundesagentur für Arbeit said in its report on Friday, with the total number of unemployed people landing at less than expected 2,486,000.
The number of German citizens that are considered unemployed fell by 62,000 in the month when compared to August's results, when the rate was 5.5%. However, on a seasonally adjusted basis, the number increased by 14 000 month-on-month.
When compared to the same period last year, the figure was up 0.8%, indicating that 20,945 more German citizens are considered unemployed than in September last year.
