Germany's Bundesrat, the upper house of the country's parliament, voted on Friday in favor of the debt brake reform and €500 billion spending package, after the Bundestag's approval.
The package, which was jointly pushed by the German Christian Democratic Union (CDU), the Christian Social Union (CSU), the Social Democratic Party (SPD), and the Greens, has now cleared the final legislative hurdle, with 53 "yes" votes. The bill needed 46 out of a total of 69 votes to pass.
With this motion, Germany's defense and infrastructure spending will increase significantly.
