In a clear rebuff to French President Emmanuel Macron's recent suggestions, Germany's Deputy Chancellor Robert Habeck has stated there is "no chance" of deploying ground troops to Ukraine, advocating instead for an increase in weapon supplies to Kiev.
"I'm pleased that France is thinking about how to increase its support for Ukraine, but if I could give it a word of advice — supply more weapons," Habeck said.
Macron's willingness to discuss troop deployments, in the absence of consensus among Western leaders, has been met with firm opposition from NATO members, underscoring the alliance's cautious stance against an escalation of the conflict. On the same issue, Russia warned today that the deployment of troops would make a full-scale war against NATO inevitable.
