The German Foreign Office expressed on Tuesday its "great concern" regarding the recent events unfolding in South Korea.
"We are following developments in South Korea closely and with great concern. Democracy must prevail," the German government added.
Earlier, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol proclaimed emergency martial law, alleging that members of the opposition were engaged in activities against the state. In response to this declaration, the National Assembly approved a resolution calling for the termination of the emergency status.
