Germany, Baltic countries to boost defense - Lithuanian President

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda stated on Tuesday that Baltic and German authorities have agreed that defense in the Baltic region must be reinforced amidst the military operation in Ukraine.

Nauseda told reporters after a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz that the alliance between both regions should be boosted by increasing the number of troops.

"We agreed that we must strengthen defensive capabilities in the Baltic countries by increasing the number of deployed troops, adding to air and maritime defense," said Nauseda.
