German Finance Minister Christian Lindner (pictured) confirmed on Friday his country was ready to legislate the minimum corporate tax if the European Union doesn't reach a bloc-wide agreement.
"We strongly support a European approach. We try to convince all member states, especially one (Hungary). We decided to implement the minimum corporation taxation in Germany if there is no European understanding of this, and I think others will be open to a similar approach," Lindner told reporters as ministers gathered in Prague for an EU meeting.
French economy minister Bruno Le Maire also noted Paris intended to apply the tax deal through national legislation if there's no broader deal. Hungary continues to oppose the deal, claiming it would impair the bloc's economy due to the record inflation and the energy crisis.
