German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said Berlin will continue to support Ukraine for as long as necessary as part of the European Union's efforts to facilitate peace in the region. He added that his government also intends to make all decisions about weapons supply together with its allies.
His remarks follow Germany's failure to reach an agreement with its allies regarding the deployment of tanks to Kiev.
Scholz made the comments during his visit to Paris on Sunday to mark 60 years since the signing of the Elysee Treaty.
