German automotive and arms manufacturer, Rheinmetall AG, will supposedly deliver over a hundred main battle tanks to Ukraine, including German-made Leopard tanks as well as British model Challenger 1, the Handelsblatt reported on Thursday citing sources familiar with the matter.
The combat vehicles could be delivered to Ukraine later this year, according to the persons acquainted with the matter, adding that the delivery would not affect Germany's Armed Forces units.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba earlier urged countries to send Leopard tanks to Kiev, amid reports that suggested that Berlin was not willing to deliver more combat vehicles. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called for more military support for Ukraine, underlining it is crucial to stop Moscow from winning the war.
