"The only way to end the coronavirus pandemic is through global cooperation," President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and President of the United States Joe Biden stated on Thursday after the second Global COVID-19 Summit.

In a joint statement, both Von der Leyen and Biden announced future steps towards reaching the goals of this cooperation. The European Commission will invest a further €400 million to support vaccination in countries in need, with a focus on sub-Saharan Africa.

"All regions should have the capacity to prevent pandemic outbreaks and produce their own vaccines & other tools, locally," European Commission's President said in a post on Twitter. Von der Leyen also announced European Commission's plan for a $450 million contribution to the G20's global pandemics preparedness fund.
