The prices of gold and silver surged on Tuesday, fueled by uncertainties surrounding the US election, ongoing tensions in the Middle East, and expectations of additional monetary easing that boosted the demand for precious metals as a safe investment haven.
Gold gained 1.01% to hit a new record high at $2,747.23 per ounce at 1:02 pm ET. Silver increased by 3.10% to $34.84 per ounce a minute later. Platinum advanced 2.39% to $1,032.39 per ounce at 12:57 pm ET. Meanwhile, palladium improved by 2.54% to land at $1,066.68 per ounce concurrently.
