European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde (pictured) stated on Wednesday that the bank will continue to hike interest rates in the next meetings.

"We have return inflation to 2% in the medium term, and we will do what we have to do, which is to continue hiking interest rates in the next several meetings," she said at the Frankfurt Forum on US-European GeoEconomics.

Finally, Lagarde insisted that the "first destination" for rate hikes will be to hit the neutral rate, which neither stimulates nor slows growth.
