Google reportedly adds US to its 'sensitive' country list

Google LLC, a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc., reclassified the United States as a "sensitive country" in its Maps division, placing it alongside China, Russia and Saudi Arabia, CNBC reported, citing an internal company memo. The "sensitive" label applies to countries with border disputes or unique geographic labeling.

The change follows President Donald Trump's announcement that his administration would rename the Gulf of Mexico as the "Gulf of America" and restore Mount Denali's name to Mount McKinley. Google reportedly stated that US users will see the "Gulf of America" name, while Mexican users will retain the "Gulf of Mexico" designation.
