Google LLC was sued for €25 billion over its anti-competitive practices in digital advertising, according to filings in courts in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands on Tuesday. The lawsuit aims to obtain compensation for publishers in the UK and the European Union for lost advertising revenue.
"Publishers, including local and national news media who play a vital role in our society, have long been harmed by Google’s anticompetitive conduct," said Damien Geradin of Geradin Partners, who filed suit in the EU. "It is time that Google owns up to its responsibilities and pays back the damages it has caused to this important industry."
