Google is being sued in the United Kingdom over claims of having "near-total dominance" in the online search market, a class action lawsuit filed Wednesday showed.
According to the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal, the tech giant is abusing its position while restricting others' ability to become viable options in the search market. Hundreds of thousands of UK-based organizations presented the lawsuit, which is represented by Associate Professor of Competition Law and Policy at the University of Leeds, Or Brook.
"This class action is about holding Google accountable for its unlawful practices and seeking compensation on behalf of UK advertisers who have been overcharged," Brook said in a statement.
