Google to make AI photo editing more transparent

Alphabet Inc.'s Google announced on Thursday that it will make edits based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Google Photos more transparent.

Namely, Google said in a blog post that as of next week, Google Photos will indicate when a photo has been edited with Google AI tools, Magic Editor and Magic Eraser, right in the Photos app.

"In addition to indicating when an image has been edited using generative AI, we will also use IPTC [The International Press Telecommunications Council] metadata to indicate when an image is composed of elements from different photos using non-generative features," Google explained.
