United States Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm remarked on Wednesday that the country aims to refill its Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) and bring them to the level it was at before the conflict in Ukraine began.
Speaking at the Columbia University Energy Summit, Granholm added that the administration hopes to take advantage of the current lower prices to refill the SPR. However, she stressed such a step will be taken only if it is "advantageous to taxpayers" during the course of this year.
Recently, Granholm noted the US might need years to refill the SPR while underlining that "we will continue to look for that low price into the future because we intend to be able to save the taxpayer dollars."
