Guatemala's Attorney General's Office said on Friday that the presidential elections held in August and won by Bernardo Arevalo should be annulled due to alleged irregularities by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal.

During a press conference, prosecutor Leonor Morales explained that the elections are considered invalid because the electoral records were not approved by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal. Meanwhile, the prosecutor Rafael Curruchiche said that "all the parties were affected, all the candidates in all the elections."

On the other hand, the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS), condemned the ruling of the prosecutor's office, labeling it as an "attempted coup."
