Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova underscored on Thursday that United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres's remarks on the held referendums of the four Ukrainian territories, that sought to join the Federation, were "biased" and "unprincipled."
The foreign ministry spokeswoman explained that the secretary-general cannot have any independent "position, especially on territorial issues." Additionally, Zakharova noted that the United Nations failed to change its rhetoric on Moscow, but instead it only "polished" the Russophobic statements.
The day before Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the four areas' accession, Guterres regarded the process as "annexation," stressing that it is a "dangerous escalation" and could jeopardize prospects for peace.
