United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres (pictured) urged a "spirit of compromise" between Ukraine and Russia over grain exports on Thursday, during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Lviv, Ukraine.

Guterres underlined that the UN-brokered grain deal is only the beginning of the cooperation between Moscow, Kiev, and Ankara, and that it will take time for it to reflect in the everyday lives of ordinary people dealing with the food crisis. "I appeal for this to continue and for them to overcome all obstacles in a spirit of compromise and permanently settle all difficulties," he added.

Following his visit to Lviv, the secretary-general will visit the Joint Coordination Center in Istanbul, which is the key point in the Ukrainian grain export efforts.
