German Economy Minister Robert Habeck announced on Tuesday that the government is close to securing necessary oil supplies so it could abandon the imports of Russian oil.

Russia's deliveries of crude currently make up 12% of the total German supply, Habeck told reporters in Warsaw, asserting the country would be able to manage an embargo on Russian oil "in a matter of days."

The remarks come shortly after Brussels confirmed the next package of sanctions against Russia would be introduced soon.
