Hamas is willing to disarm its armed wing Al-Qassam Brigades if a Palestinian state is created, the member of Hamas' political bureau Basem Naim told CNN on Thursday.
"If an independent state with its capital in Jerusalem, while preserving the right of return for refugees, [is established] Al-Qassam could be integrated into [a potential] national army," Naim stated.
Hamas has consistently opposed the idea of a two-state solution, insisting on the total destruction of the state of Israel and the formation of a Palestinian state that would include the entire Israeli territory, Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
