Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton won the 2021 Formula 1 British Grand Prix at the Silverstone racetrack on Sunday.

Hamilton managed to overtake Ferrari's Charles Leclerc in the 50th lap of the race and he held him off until the checkered flag was waved. Hamilton's teammate Valtteri Bottas rounded out the top three.

Hamilton managed to overcome a 10-second penalty, following was an incident at the start of the race which took Red Bull's Max Verstappen out of the race completely. This means that the reigning world champion is now only seven points behind Verstappen on the championship leaderboard.

Sainz wins 2022 British Grand Prix
