United States Vice President Kamala Harris outlined her economic agenda focused on reducing prices and vowed to hold businesses accountable for inflating prices at a rally on Friday.
"As president, I will be laser-focused on creating opportunities for the middle class that advance their economic security, stability and dignity. Together, we will build what I call an opportunity economy, where everyone can compete and have a real chance to succeed," Harris said during her speech at a campaign event in Raleigh, North Carolina. "Prices went up during the pandemic ... but our supply chains have now improved and prices are still too high," she added.
Her plan involves eradicating medical debt for millions of Americans, prohibiting grocery and food price gouging, capping prescription drug costs, granting a $25,000 subsidy for first-time homebuyers and providing a $6,000 Child Tax Credit per child during their initial year of life.
