United States Vice President Kamala Harris surprised delegates by taking the stage on the first night of the Democratic National Convention (DNC), despite not being set to deliver her official speech until Thursday.
Her unplanned appearance mirrors former President Donald Trump's move at last month's Republican National Convention (RNC), where he unexpectedly showed up during the Monday session.
In her brief remarks, she praised President Joe Biden and promised a "great week" ahead. "Joe thank you for your historic leadership, for your lifetime of service to our nation and for all you will continue to do. We are forever grateful to you," Harris said.
