United States Vice President Kamala Harris said on Friday that Russia will face "severe" sanctions if it invades Ukraine.
"We are also committed, if Russia takes aggressive action, to ensure there will be severe consequence in terms of the sanctions we have discussed, and we know the alliance is strong in that regard," Harris said as she met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
On Thursday, US President Joe Biden claimed the risk of Moscow attacking Ukraine in the coming days is "very high." Meanwhile, his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin accused the US of planning to hit Russia with sanctions in any case and called the allegations over Ukraine just a "pretext" for such actions.
