United States Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth (pictured left) said on Friday that he does not "believe" that US troops could be deployed in Ukraine, although he left open the possibility of negotiations on the matter.

"Negotiations happen. The president has latitude, and what happens is those negotiations is his prerogative," Hegseth stated at a joint press briefing with Poland's Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz (pictured right) in Warsaw.

Furthermore, the US official praised Poland for spending nearly 5% on national defense. "We see Poland as the model ally on the continent, willing to invest not just in their defense, but in our shared defense and the defense of the continent," Hegseth noted.
