United States Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stressed on Monday that he still enjoys President Donald Trump's support amid the reports that he shared confidential military information with his family, accusing the media of trying to ruin his reputation.

"Not going to work with me because we're changing the Defense Department, putting the Pentagon back in the hands of war fighters. And anonymous smears from disgruntled former employees are old news, doesn't matter," Hegseth told the press during the White House Easter Egg Roll. "I'm really proud of what we're doing for the president, fighting hard across the board."

Meanwhile, the White House said that Trump still "stand[s] behind" Hegseth.
